COVID-19 UPDATE

As a healthcare provider, it is my responsibility to do what I can to help keep my patients safe. Due to the Corona Virus pandemic, I have switched all my sessions to video sessions. I have been providing confidential video counseling for years now, so the transition has been smooth. Substance abuse and addiction have not taken a break because of COVID-19. Quite the contrary. If you need addiction counseling, an alcohol & drug assessment, or a Suboxone plan, call or email. We’ll get right to work on the solution. Thanks for your understanding during this time.

Recovery Consulting Service is a private counseling and coaching practice in Murfreesboro TN. founded by Tom Diffenderfer LADAC II, QCS in May of 2012. Tom is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, Qualified Clinical Supervisor, and Certified Life Coach. Prior to opening his private practice, he had spent 18 years as a counselor and program coordinator at one of Nashville’s oldest and most established alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers. Tom has counseled and coached  literally thousands of individuals and families seeking help for addiction and anxiety.

"Substance Use Disorders and unhealthy anxiety are confusing and complex health conditions. I know this from personal experience. I have been there. However, recovery is achievable and sustainable. If you or a loved one is having a problem with alcohol or drug misuse, I understand and can help."

Video Counseling for Patients Taking Suboxone as Part of Their Treatment.

Both Federal and Tennessee state guidelines recognize the importance of addiction counseling for patients taking Suboxone. The guidelines suggest a minimum of one counseling session per month for the duration of treatment. Tom Diffenderfer understands the benefits of Suboxone maintenance while helping patients adjust their thinking and behaviors that became impaired during active Opiate addiction.

The Difference Between Addiction Counseling and Maintenance Coaching

Addiction Counseling

Addiction counseling at Recovery Consulting Service, focuses on helping the patient maintain sobriety during the first few weeks and months of early recovery. The usual topics could include dealing with cravings, establishing boundaries, building support, education on the disease of addiction, relapse prevention, and managing feelings. Sessions can occur several times a week, once a month, or anything in between depending on need. The main goal here is learning to avoid substance abuse on a daily basis.

Remission Maintenance Coaching

Once the Substance Use Disorder is in remission, the emphasis shifts to maintaining a quality recovery lifestyle. The goal is to decrease the risk of relapse by improving overall emotional wellness. Coaching will often address issues such as relationships, finances, employment, as well as living with purpose, passion and peace through the art of struggle reduction. Sessions occur one time per week or bi-monthly for up to a year or longer.

Help Recovery Center's Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP)

As a result of the partnership between Recovery Consulting Service and Help Recovery Centers, we offer a more structured, MAT-friendly, Intensive outpatient treatment program. Help IOP meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. You attend all 3 sessions from the comfort of your home using our confidential zoom video counseling room. Upon completion of the program, you should have an understanding of the brain disease of Substance Use Disorder and how to place the disease in remission. You will also be introduced to a large collection of recovery tools that can be utilized to keep the disease in remission. If needed, Opiate addicted patients can see our staff doctor and receive Suboxone medication while in IOP. The goal is to assist you in developing your individual path to an enjoyable and purposeful recovery lifestyle. To learn more about Help IOP, click on the book cover below.
